Imperial Seedley Stout
Seedley is an inner city suburb of Salford. It was once home to Seedley Bleach Works, established by Buckley and Brennand in the 1800s. It would be entered through Nona Street, the location of Seedley Print Works. The Seedley Print Works were owned by Robert Goulden, a social activist and the father of Emmeline Pankhurst.
Imperial Stout is a very strong, dark beer originating in Thrale’s Anchor Brewery, London. Brewer Albert von Le Coq shipped it to Russia and recieved a royal warrant, allowing him to name the new Stout as “Imperial”. Stout is typically a winter season beer and is brewed in a very similar fashion to porter.
