Broughton of Porter
Broughton is a suburb and district of Salford found on the east bank of River Irwell. Broughton was historically both a township and chapelry in the Parish of Manchester and Salford Hundred. In 1853, Broughton was fully integrated into the Municipal Borough of Salford, and it is now home to a large Jewish community.
Porter is a unique style of beer created in London during the early 18th century. The brown malt is what gives it a much darker appearance. It was very popular with not just porters, but people all over the world. Porter was the first style of beer to be brewed worldwide. A stronger porter is known as a stout.
