Charlestown Table

Charlestown is a ward in the suburban north of Manchester, across the River Irwell and on the outskirts of Salford. It was originally established in 1973. In Charlestown you will find Albert Park, opened in 1877 and named to commemorate the husband of Queen Victoria. The park spans 16 acres.

Table beer is thought to have originated in Medieval Europe. It existed as a low on alcohol beer, usually under 1%, that were for a whole table of people to share. It would be made from the washed up grains of a stronger beer and would be a very popular choice for workers. It was even thought to be safer to drink than water, which was often full of bacteria.
