Little Bolton Barrel
Little Bolton was a township of the civil and ecclesiastical parish of Bolton le Moors in the Hundred of Salford. And, contrary to its name, it was actually far larger than its neighbour Great Bolton. While Little Bolton was abolished in 1895, it still lives on in name, with the Little Bolton Town Hall still standing today.
Barrel beer is often aged in barrels which once housed liquor. Our blend is a stout, held in a whisky barrel and soured with fruit. These beers are aged in this manner in order to achieve a lasting flavour from the barrel’s previous contents. There are even imparting flavours from the wood, often distinguished by oak species.
