BOX ART HOBBIES
A project for university that involved taking twelve of my hobbies and making individual poster designs for each one of them. The designs had to be consistent and follow a pattern, but we had freedom to choose how they would ultimately look. I took inspiration from the NES “Black Box” series as it's a collection that is very close to my heart. Collecting retro games is a hobby of my own, and I thought it would go well with the idea of hobbies for this project.
I love the simplicity of this particular NES set, and thought it would be a perfect fit for my collection, making each of my hobbies into their own video games (no matter how mundane the hobbies are). Experimenting with 8-bit and pixel art was a lot of fun, and imitating the style of retro video games allowed me to inject my own personal interests and my hobbies into the project, making the collection revolve around one of my own.
